The primary objective of the Sustainable Development and Smart Growth Ad-Hoc Committee is to explore current environmental, academic and scientific literature in crafting recommendations that will fulfill related objectives in the Clemmons Community Compass. In connection with such a task, the Sustainable Development and Smart Growth Ad-Hoc Committee shall scrutinize current development regulations and explore green and blue infrastructure. The Sustainable Development and Smart Growth Ad-Hoc Committee shall consider and recommend environmentally-friendly development regulations to modify or replace existing gray-friendly development regulations.
The secondary objective of the Sustainable Development and Smart Growth Ad-Hoc Committee is to conduct limited study of specific environmental concerns brought to its attention by Council, the Planning Director, or the Village Engineer. In order to conduct studies on environmental concerns, the Sustainable Development and Smart Growth Ad-Hoc Committee may explore a study of the current environmental inventory of the Village of Clemmons.
The Sustainable Development and Smart Growth Ad-Hoc Committee shall operate at the direction of the Council and shall not undertake additional studies or tasks without prior approval of the Council and should serve as a means to fulfill applicable objectives from the 2040 Clemmons Community Compass.
